TIMEMORE Chestnut S5 Pro – 48mm Tri-Break Hand Grinder

The S3 was good. TIMEMORE decided that wasn’t good enough.

The TIMEMORE Chestnut S5 Pro takes everything people loved about the S3 and pushes it further. At its heart is a completely new 48mm TriB-048-I burr set, designed to deliver a more controlled grind, improved particle consistency and greater versatility across both filter coffee and espresso.

Bigger burr. Better control.

The S5 Pro steps up from the S3's 42mm burr to a larger 48mm stainless steel burr – a size more commonly found in electric grinders.

TIMEMORE's new Tri-Break design uses three forces simultaneously to break down the coffee bean before the final grind:

• Compression draws the bean into the burr
• Piercing opens the bean using serrated S2C-style teeth
• Shearing cuts the bean with alternating flat blades

The result is a more controlled feed into the main grinding section, reducing unpredictable crushing and helping create a tighter, more consistent particle distribution.

And despite that bigger 48mm burr, the clever pre-breaking geometry reduces the torque required, keeping the S5 Pro remarkably smooth and comfortable to grind by hand.

More body, more definition – and better espresso

Compared with the S3, the S5 Pro produces a cup with more structure, body and definition, while maintaining excellent clarity.

Acidity becomes more pronounced and balanced against sweetness, while improved grind consistency gives you more control when dialing in your brew.

It's also considerably more capable when it comes to espresso, making the S5 Pro a seriously versatile hand grinder for anyone who likes to move between espresso and pour-over.

External adjustment with 90 clicks

The external grind adjustment has also been redesigned.

Inspired by the aperture ring of a camera lens, each adjustment has a more defined, satisfying click that you can both hear and feel. A red indicator makes your current setting easy to see, while the firmer mechanism helps prevent accidental adjustment when carrying or storing the grinder.

With 90 grind settings at approximately 15 microns per click, you've got plenty of precision for dialing in everything from espresso to filter coffee.
